Freeport and Indonesian workers agree on wage hike
Indonesian workers at a Freeport mine have ended a three-month strike. The company agreed to a 37% wage increase and better benefits. The 8,000 employees walked off the job in mid-September. Wages will increase by 24% over the first year, and 13% the second. The company says that the benefits in the agreement include housing allowances and an educational assistance plan. The union said that they hoped to continue working with the company in the future.
