Ark. firm agrees to $1.5M migrant worker pay pact
An Arkansas federal judge is expected to give final approval to a settlement that will pay 1,500 migrant workers for unpaid wages and expenses. The class-action lawsuit was brought in 2007 against an Arkansas company. The workers, who packed tomatoes, said that they were not paid minimum wage or overtime, and that they were not reimbursed for travel costs, visas and other expenses. The settlement applies to both legal and illegal workers. The settlement, for $1.5 million, is expected to get final approval on March 27.
