Nike factory to pay $1m to Indonesian workers for overtime
After years of negotiation, a Nike supplier factory in Indonesia has agreed to pay $1 million in back overtime to its workers. The settlement covers around 4,500 workers at the factory. Experts say that the settlement has the potential to change the behavior of other suppliers in Indonesia, where critics say that factories often operate outside of the country's labor laws. Nike said that it was pleased that the factory was trying to remediate the problems, and that it would support the supplier. Apparel brands and supplier factories signed an agreement last year to guarantee the right to form a union in Indonesia.
