Belgian workers hold general strike to protest austerity measures on day of EU summit
Belgian unions organized a nationwide strike on Monday to protest austerity measures on the day of a European Union summit in Brussels. The strike affected trains and some public transport, but many of the leaders attending the summit came through a military airport. Belgian unions have called for stimulus measures along with cuts, and say that growth will not happen with pure austerity measures.
