Kaiser workers plan 1-day strike Tuesday
Thousands of workers at Kaiser Permanente are expected to stage a one-day strike on Tuesday. The workers, who are represented by the National Union of Healthcare Workers, are striking over a contract dispute. The strike will involve not only the workers involved in negotiations, but also workers who have agreed to strike in sympathy, an estimated 22,000 in total. The union says that they have been unable to reach agreement on proposed cuts to benefits as well as patient care issues. The strike is expected to be one of the largest in Kaiser's history.
