American Airlines pilots ask bankruptcy judge to keep contracts intact
The pilots' union for American Airlines is asking the judge in the company's bankruptcy case to keep the contract intact. The union laid out cuts that it had offered to the company leading up to the trial, and that American rejected. The company is asking the court to cut its contracts so that it can continue to operate, while the unions have asked for a merger with US Airways. The company says that labor costs are the reason for its bankruptcy. The judge is expected to rule by June 6.
