Sugar workers: For 3rd time, no
Workers at American Crystal Sugar rejected the company's contract offer for a third time. The 1,300 workers have been locked out for more than ten months by the company. According to the union, 82% of the workers voted, 63% against the contract. Those numbers are lower than previous votes on what the company has said is their final offer, but workers say that they want a fair contract. The sticking points have been increased health care costs and job security provisions. The company has used replacement workers to run the plants during the lockout.
