On Vacation and Sick? A Court Says Take Another
A European court has ruled that workers who got sick on vacation were entitled to take more vacation time. The court made a distinction between sick leave and vacation leave, saying that sick leave was to allow workers to recover from illness, while vacation time was meant for relaxation. The court had previously ruled that workers could reschedule vacations if they got sick beforehand. The ruling applies across the European Union, and came out of a dispute involving Spanish department store workers.
