Judge delays ruling on union contracts at American Airlines
A federal bankruptcy court judge has delayed his ruling on the union contracts at American Airlines to June 29. The judge said that the extra week would give time for both sides to try and reach an agreement. American Airlines is asking the judge to throw out its contracts with pilots, flight attendants and others in order to save the company money. Unions have protested the airline's request, and have suggested a merger with US Airways as a way to save money and jobs. Negotiations with workers have been divided, with some ground workers accepting deals, others continuing negotiations and the flight attendants ending negotiations altogether.
