Detroit city unions sue to block outsourcing
Detroit workers represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is suing the city. The workers are trying to stop the outsourcing of some of their jobs to third-party contractors. The lawsuit says that since there is still a collective bargaining agreement in effect, the work cannot be transferred to outside parties. The union says that the transfer would effect around 400 jobs. The city said that they were aware of the lawsuit.
