Postal Workers Going on Hunger Strike
A group supporting postal workers announced that it will begin a hunger strike on June 25. The hunger strike is an effort to call attention to the reasons for the Postal Service's financial issues, which it blames on a congressional mandate that requires them to pay for retiree health care in advance. The Postal Service is closing processing plants and offering workers buyouts in an effort to cut costs. Without any changes, the service will run out of cash in October.
