American in new talks with pilots on cost-cutting
American Airlines has begun talks with the Allied Pilots Association about concessions and cost cutting measures. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants said last week that talks between the two sides had ended after two days without an agreement. A bankruptcy judge will rule by June 22 whether the airline can impose its own cuts if no agreements are made. Unions have urged American to consider a merger with US Airways, which they say would be best for everyone.
