Unions: Requesting Federal Mediation in Verizon Talks
Unions representing 45,000 workers at Verizon have requested federal mediation in their negotiations with the company. The workers and company have been in negotiations for a year. Workers say that the company is insisting on cuts to benefits and job security. The company said that they have denied the unions' request, saying that they do not feel it is necessary. Both sides have to agree for a mediation.
