Scranton, Penn workers get full pay, at least this week
After announcing that it was cutting all city workers' pay to minimum wage, Scranton said that it has enough money this week to pay workers their full salaries. The city said how much they pay their 400 employees will depend on what revenue the city has available. Pennsylvania has offered the city $2.25 million in loans and grants, but city officials have not agreed on the money or a long-term strategy to fix the budget deficit. Unions sued the mayor in court after the cuts, and the city was ordered to pay full salaries but did not. The two sides are due in court again on Tuesday.
