Financial board OKs Mayor Dave Bing's plan to slash pay, benefits for union workers
Detroit's financial board has approved a plan from the Mayor that would cut $100 million in pay and benefits for the city's workers. The cuts include a 10% pay cut, higher health care costs and limits on how much overtime workers can work. They would be applied to fire fighters and police officers in addition to other city workers. The Mayor is expected to implement the cuts without negotiated with the unions. Unions say that the cuts are an attack on workers.
