Motorola Set for Big Cuts as Google Reinvents It
Google-owned cellphone maker Motorola announced on Sunday that it would lay off 20% of its workforce and close a third of its offices. The layoffs are part of Google's plan to have Motorola expand into manufacturing hardware. About 4,000 jobs will be lost, with a third of the cuts in the United States. Motorola says that they will focus on making a few devices rather than many.
