Chicago Teachers Union files 10-day strike notice
The Chicago Teachers Union filed a strike notice on Wednesday. The union says that the notice, which is required ten days before any strike, is because of the disrespect of the city and school system, and that they will continue to bargain until they have a contract. The previous agreement expired in November. The head of Chicago Public Schools said that any strike would only hurt children, and that they will have provisions in place in the event of a strike. Negotiations have centered around a longer school day, pay and a re-hiring pool.
