Apple, Foxconn improve China plants, but more to do
On Wednesday, Apple supplier Foxconn announced that it would cut overtime hours to less than nine a week, down from the current 20. The change is expected to lead to a need for more workers even as lower earnings mean less interest. The company says that they expect the changes to lead to lowe r turnover and greater loyalty from workers. While Foxconn says that it is improving and meetinglabor codes, critics say that the company has dropped overtime hours, but not the workload that workers are expected to carry, and that other Apple suppliers should also be investigated.
