Militant South Africa union tells Lonmin to pay up
Striking workers at a South African mine say that they will remain on strike until their demands are met. The mine, which was the site of violence last month when over 30 people were killed by police, has set a deadline of Monday for workers to return to their jobs. The mine said that 2% of the 28,000 workers reported on Friday. The strikers, about 3,000 rock drill operators, are asking for higher wages for the dangerous work that they do. The strike has caused platinum prices to rise without the output from the third largest mine in the world.
