Boeing faces union drive at 787 plant in South Carolina
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers held informational meetings for Boeing employees in the company's 787 plant in South Carolina. The union said that they were in the beginning stages of their organizing drive at the plant, which has about 2,000 potential members. Boeing says that its workers do not need a union or third party to speak for them. The organizing drive was expected after the IAM and Boeing fought around the company's move to build the factory in South Carolina, with the union claiming that the company did so because of an anti-union bias. The plant just produced it first complete plane.
