American Airlines pressures pilots to speed up operations or face legal action
American Airlines says that they will take their pilots to court if they do not end practices that are causing late and canceled flights. The airline says that the pilots are filing extra maintenance complaints, taking longer routes and other actions. The union, which has had new contract terms imposed by the airline after bankruptcy proceedings, says that they are not the cause of the late and canceled flights, instead blaming old planes and a pilots shortage. The two sides have not returned to the bargaining table to negotiate since the court threw out the previous contract.
