A Michigan ballot initiative that would have changed the state constitution to include collective bargaining rights was rejected on Tuesday. Michigan voters also voted against a proposal that would have allowed home health care workers to unionize. The proposal to add collective bargaining rights to the state constitution came after proposals of anti-union legislation in the state government. Critics had said that the proposal was too broad, though the courts ruled that the measure was valid.
