Some companies have begun offering employees unlimited paid vacation days in an effort to lower turnover and relieve stress. Employers say that the change shows employees that they are trusted, and that there are very few abuses of the system. Experts say that the perk is primarily offered at smaller companies, where schedules are easier to coordinate. Abut 1% of employers offer unlimited vacation. The average in the United States was 2.6 weeks a year. Employers say that the program can help compensate for lower salaries and pay freezes, and changes the perception of the company.
