School Bus Drivers' Union Calls for Strike on Wednesday
The Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents most of New York City's school bus drivers said that they will strike on Wednesday. The city says that those students affected will be provided with MetroCards or be reimbursed for other transportation taken. The union says that the strike is necessary to ensure that the most experienced school bus drivers retain their jobs when the city switches transportation vendors. The strike, which would be the first in more than 30 years, would affect about 150,000 students.
