Foxconn's China workers to get more union rights
Foxconn, a Chinese supplier for Apple, says that employees will be allowed to vote for union representatives without any influence from management. The company has been criticized for working conditions as well as low pay and lack of overtime. In October, workers went on strike to protest working conditions. The company says that they are following a plan set out by Apple and an industry monitoring group in order to improve working conditions. Experts say that educating workers about their rights and making sure that the union can function may be tougher than Foxconn thinks.
