Southwest Airlines employees protest plans to outsource ground jobs
Southwest Airlines workers at protesting at some airports in response to the carrier's plan to hire temporary workers to replace some of its ground crew. The union that represents Southwest ground crew workers, the Transport Workers Union, says that they worry that an influx of temporary workers could hurt customer service at the airline. The airline and union have been in contract negotiations for 19 months. The airline says that they are working to reach an agreement with the union that keeps them competitive.
