Apple launches probe over China labor problems
A report by the nonprofit organization China Labor Watch has called negative attention to working conditions at Apple?s Petatron supplier. The report alleged that Pegatron employees worked hours well over the company?s 60 hour workweek rule, among other labor abuses. Apple has increased orders from its Pegatron factories since the start of 2013, according to the report, pursuing the release of a cheaper version of the iPhone. Officials at Apple have promised to send audit teams to review conditions at the factory.
