Feds give laid-off Boeing workers a big helping hand
Former Seattle Boeing workers recently laid off from the company will receive hefty unemployment packages from the federal government. While extending leave for benefits up to two and a half years, the packages will also reimburse former employees for travelling expenses to job interviews and moving expenses should they be relocated. Additionally, laid off workers over the age of 50 can qualify for up to $10,000 of supplementary pay if they have to a take lower paying job. The enlarged benefits are part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance program, which was enacted to help American workers who were laid-off because of outsourcing or overseas trade.
