Labor Secretary Perez lauds fast food workers on strike
Labor Secretary Thomas Perez announced in an interview that he supports the efforts of striking fast-food workers. Perez compared the nation-wide campaign for a $15 minimum wage to civil-rights demonstrators from the 1950s in that both demanded a form of economic justice. He went on in the interview to support the District of Columbia's tentative "living wage" bill, which would require large retailers such as Wal-Mart to pay workers a $12.50 an hour minimum.
