Trade unions rail against non-union worksite
Developers Michael and Matthew Pestronk have been able to begin their signature project, the Goldtex building, without unions, but the unions have proven that they will not go quietly. In addition to more traditional protests in front of the building, the trade unions were able to get two members ?undercover? on the worksite and then take pictures and video, and get quotes about what the Union says are major safety concerns and possible labor violations. The developer brothers have dismissed the documentary as ?fear mongering? and will modify their website called phillybully.com to address the issues in the video. The union claims that there are safety concerns, not just for the workers, but for the people using the building after it is completed using a non-union workforce.
