ADP Data Show Companies Add Fewer U.S. Workers Than Forecast
Economists predicted that during the month of September, U.S. employers would add 180,000 workers to their payrolls, but reality fell short. Early counts show that 166,000 jobs were added, most of which were in businesses which provide services. The financial services sector actually lost approximately 4,000 jobs. Small companies added more jobs than medium-sized and large employers. These additions to the labor market are still in advance of the bubble of seasonal hiring expected to be seen in the next few months.
