BART, Unions Reach Tentative Deal to End Strike
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) management and unions have reached a tentative agreement that brings an end to the strike which left about 200,000 commuters seeking alternative ways to get around the San Francisco Bay area. The strike, which lasted 4 days, stemmed from disagreements about changes to work rules and work hours. The union, in its final offer, granted some of the BART management?s requests for flexibility, but remained firm on work rules that addressed worker safety. The deal now goes to BART?s board of directors and union members for approval.
