Walmart giving 1 million employees who work on Thanksgiving extra pay, a turkey dinner and 25% off a future purchase
The world?s largest retailer has announced that it will open with the earliest of major chain stores providing Black Friday deals. Starting at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Wal-Mart?s doors will open and approximately 1 million employees will be manning the stores away from their families. To soften the blow of only being able to spend a half-day in celebration, the retailer is offering to feed anyone who works a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, pay them the equivalent of an extra day of work, and giving them a 25% discount to be used after Black Friday. A petition on Change.org protesting the retailers who plan on opening before Friday has been growing rapidly and over 160 such petitions exist.
