Wal-Mart picks longtime executive as CEO
Wal-Mart announced a long-time company employee as the next CEO, Doug McMillon. Mr. McMillon most recently led one of the fastest growing segments of the business, Wal-Mart International, but started his career as seasonal help in one of Wal-Mart?s stores almost 30 years ago. The change comes just before the world?s largest retailer will face planned Black Friday protests over pay and hours at 1,500 of its stores. While groups like OUR Walmart have publicly stated that they hope that the new CEO will be more open to engaging with his employees, analysts warn that the company is unlikely to make any large changes to its labor relations strategy.
