Crisis talks? Europe's unions plan to take on Amazon
European union officials met in Berlin today to discuss what they call "mistreatment" of workers by Amazon, and to try and come up with a plan for improving working conditions via joint action. Amazon workers have complained of low wages and high pressure to meet shipping targets, and have already gone on strike in Germany, France and Great Britain. Representatives predict further action if the online retail giant does not begin to work with the unions. Amazon officials counter that they already pay more than the minimum wage, and that employees have multiple avenues with which to air their grievances.
