Talks between Muni, union break down
Only days since the end of TWU Local 250-A?s sick out protesting a contract offer by the San Francisco area?s Municipal Transportation Agency talks have broken down again. Muni?s Transportation Director Ed Reiskin said that the local union president, Eric William and his team walked out of negotiations on Thursday and since then has formally invited the union to rejoin talks. If the union does not return to the bargaining table and reach a new agreement through the mandated process, Muni workers will not receive raises. According to the city charter, Muni just publicly present its contract by offer by Sunday, thought the offer has already been rejected by the union membership. If the contract is presented publicly then the two sides would retain use of the mediator until June 24th. Any agreement would need to be approved before June 30th when the current contract expires to avoid any negative consequences.
