Seoul to ban ride-sharing app Uber
The city council of Seoul, South Korea is planning to ban the use of Uber, a mobile app that uses paid ride-sharing to provide an alternative to traditional taxis. The council cited concerns about Uber's avoidance of regulations regarding matters such as driver background checks and vehicle upkeep, thus creating unfair competition. The app has seen protest elsewhere, and was ruled illegal by a Belgian court.
