Casino Closure Brings Mass Unemployment Filing
With the closing of Atlantic City Casinos Revel and Showboat, 5,000 people will be filing for unemployment. Over 8,000 people in Atlantic City will file for unemployment this year with the city closing 4 of its 12 operating casinos. The Atlantic City Casinos now face heavy competition from Connecticut, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania causing the city?s casino revenue to fall from $5.2 billion in 2006 to $2.86 billion in 2013.
