B.C. Teachers? Strike: Tentative Deal Reached on Fifth Day of Talks
After 5 days of ongoing negotiations, a deal has been reached in a move to end the B.C. Teachers? strike that began approximately two weeks before the end of the previous school year. Since June of 2013, 40,000 teachers have been awaiting contract renewals. Labor action began to escalate in April in an effort to have contract issues addressed. However, after many schools faced delays due to the strike this fall, 99.4% of teachers voted to use binding arbitration to end the strike.
