The Fight for $15.37 an Hour
Last year in Los Angeles, Julia Gould started collecting signatures on a petition that would raise the minimum wage to $15.37 for all hotel workers in the city. The Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE) spearheaded this movement. So far the campaign has been able to improve wages for 121,000 workers. In October this wage increase was approved LA?s Mayor Garcetti. LAANE is now trying to raise the city?s minimum wage.
