Labor Activists Cancel Faculty Unionization Vote at CalArts
Just hours before ballots were to be mailed out, CalArts activists called off the election. The employees originally sought to unionize to protect adjunct faculty who often faced unpredictable employment and low pay. The CalArts President, who opposed the unionization of the employees, issued a statement of relief over the announcement.
