Steven Greenhouse on Keeping the Labor Beat Alive
In an extensive interview, former New York Times labor reporter, Steven Greenhouse discusses the decline of the labor movement, and the decline of media coverage of labor issues. Greenhouse points to recent movements such as Fight for 15 as encouraging signs that workers are adapting to new media and seeking out ways to capture the media's attention, while still working towards making substantial gains in worker mobilization. He also discusses efforts to root out union corruption over the last two decades, as well as some of the ways labor unions' structural problems have hindered their ability to organize workers more effectively.
