Judge rejects Uber's attempt to block new labor law
A new California labor law regulates the wages and employment status of gig economy workers. Recently, Uber and Postmates, gig worker employers, filed a claim stating that their companies would face "irreparable harm" as a result of the new legislation. A Los Angeles judge ruled that providing living wages to gig workers is in the interest of the public, despite the harm that the companies may face. The firms are considering additional legal action and may appeal the decision.
