Columbia graduate student union postpones strike vote
In 2018 Columbia University agreed to negotiate with the Graduate Workers of Columbia if the group agreed to hold no strikes until April 2020. The strike deadline is rapidly approaching and the union intends to hold a strike authorization vote soon. Following years of challenging negotiations, Columbia administration formally recognized the union in 2018. While progress has been made at the bargaining table, a number of issues have yet to be addressed which may motivate the union to strike.
