Amazon warehouse workers contract COVID-19
Cases of the novel coronavirus have occurred in Amazon warehouses in both Spain and Italy. The appearance of the disease in warehouses is troubling because due to the pandemic, Amazon has experienced increased demand as customers are encouraged to avoid social contact. Currently, the firm does not have enough employees to prepare and deliver orders. Amazon recently announced its plans to hire an additional 100,000 workers and increase wages by $2 per hour. Amazon is in a precarious situation where it provide services to individuals who cannot enter stores, which in turn puts warehouse workers and drivers at risk.
