Pandemic May Bring New Wave of Labor Rights
Most white-collar workers are riding out the coronavirus pandemic at home. However, many low-wage essential workers in retail stores, e-commerce warehouses, apartment buildings and delivery trucks have had no choice but to go to work and risk exposing themselves and their families to the virus. Many workers have started organizing in response. It’s not clear whether workers will walk out of the pandemic and the ensuing recession with stronger rights or better pay at state or federal levels.
