The National Labor Relations Board is seeking input in whether modifications should be made to the contract bar doctrine, whether it should remain as-is, or whether it should be entirely abolished. The contract bar doctrine limits the time frame when petitions can be filed to remove a union from a workplace; typically this is before the collective bargaining agreement between employer and union has lapsed. The review of this legal doctrine is being urged by the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, which is representing a worker in Delaware that is trying to dissolve an 800-member union for a chicken production company.
