Delta CEO Asks Employees to take Unpaid Leave
Today, Delta Airlines CEO asked employees to sign up for additional unpaid leave to compensate for the decline in travel over the beginning of 2021. Executives at Delta and other airlines in recent weeks have warned about a slowdown in bookings as Covid-19 infections rose. During the course of the pandemic, more than 40,000 Delta employees have opted for unpaid leaves of absence at the company’s urging. Roughly 18,000 accepted buyouts and early retirement packages, cutting Delta’s pre-pandemic head count by about 20%. However, the persistence of the pandemic calls for more trimming. Delta is among many other airline companies that are managing severe revenue losses due to the pandemic.
