Teen labor force participation rates skyrocket in a post-Covid-19 summer
In contrast to the steady decline in teen labor force participation we’ve seen over the years, the summer of 2021 is booming with a teenage workforce. As older workers are exiting the labor force from fallouts of Covid-19, 2021 is becoming the best year for teen workers since 1953. This spike in teen workers can be attributed to many factors, some of which include, wage increases, economic necessity, and businesses reopening during the prime time where teens are searching for summer jobs.
