Juneteenth is declared a federal holiday and companies are observing
On Wednesday, President Biden signed into law the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act establishing Juneteenth as a federal holiday and many companies have announced their observance plans. Companies like Target, Starbucks and BestBuy have observed Juneteenth since 2020 as a result of the racial justice callouts from the death of George Floyd. Companies like Yelp and T-Mobile observed the holiday for the first time this year. Many companies are offering the day off for employees or for those who work it, holiday pay of time and a half.
